You know that feeling when you’ve just finished cleaning around the house, you sit down on the couch, look around, and feel your body relax a little? I LOVE that feeling. Now, I know not everybody loves cleaning as much as I do... I tend to put music on and incorporate some PG-13 dance moves while I disinfect, declutter, and organize. It sparks much joy in my life. And while you may not feel this way, it turns out that cleaning and decluttering, or the lack thereof, impacts your mental and physical health!

According to research, cleaning your home can help relieve anxiety, improve your mood, and increase your focus. A study at Indiana University even showed that “people with clean houses tend to be healthier than those with messy or cluttered homes. In fact, cleanliness was even more a predictor of good health than the walkability of a neighborhood.”1,2

Not only is a clean home easy on the eyes, it’s easy on your mind and body, too! Having a routine and owning items that help maintain organization make cleaning less of a chore, and more of a joy. Without further ado, here are 11 awesome home organization tools.

If there’s one thing that irks me (and my husband) more than it should, it’s shoes all over the floor. Keep your kicks looking fresh and organized with this shoe organizer that is cost effective, easy to put together, height adjustable, and stores 12-20 pairs of shoes.

The ultra-satisfying show The Home Edit proved to us that keeping similar items “contained” is the perfect way to stay organized. Plus, once you have a system in place, it really does stay that way. I bought these drawer organizers for clothing over 3 years ago, and the organization in our house is still going strong. Keep undies in one, socks in another, bras in a third, t-shirts in a 4th, and so on. ;) When you open your drawers, it’ll be like opening up pure sunshine.

I know not everybody cares to have a filing system when it comes to T-shirts, but don’t knock it ‘til you try it. This T-Shirt Folding Board makes folding shirts as easy as 1-2-3. It takes about 20 seconds to use, and your shirts will look crispy and beautiful in the drawer when you are done. Plus, you can easily find your favorites!

Hats. Where do you put them? They are awkward and take up tons of space, especially if you’ve got yourself a lil’ collection. This hanger hat organizer saves you space, plus beautifully displays all your options in your closet.

These drawer organizers are a game changer. You can use them anywhere, plus they come with a non-slip design so they don’t go sliding all over! Store your make-up, jewelry, kitchen utensils, office supplies, whatever you want! They save tons of space and are honestly gorgeous to look at. Sometimes, I’ll open drawers for no good reason, just to appreciate the organization. (Have you realized I’m as Type A as it gets yet?)

Wow.

I don’t know about y’all, but when there’s tons of opened food bags in the pantry, it stresses me out. Chip clips work and all, but the bags of cereal, chips, sugar, flour, pasta, etc. take up a lot of space and aren’t appealing to the eye. These pantry canisters are airtight, include labels (pro-tip: include the expiration date on the label), and will change the look of your pantry. Your food will last longer and you will be even more excited about your snacking when they look so pretty.

Another huge pet peeve of mine is when there’s loose bottles and soaps in the shower. Without built-in shelving, the shower items would fall off the ledge, make a ton of noise, and interrupt my angelic singing (I think I have Adele level pipes, my husband and son say otherwise… Rude.) This shower caddy is sleek, hangs over your shower head, and has hooks, a soap dish, and plenty of room for all your shower necessities.

Are your mop and broom hanging out on the floor taking up space? Not today, junior. This garage storage organization tool looks super fresh, and includes 5 slots and 6 hooks for the ultimate cleaning or garden tool organization.

Store all your home workout equipment and save space with this gym storage rack. Yoga mats, free weights, jump ropes, etc. will all fit on this awesome home gym organizer that includes hooks as well as wheels for easy moving. Plus, having organized equipment is more appealing, thus, more likely to be used.

My son loves anything he can build, so naturally, he's got all kinds of blocks, Lego, marble set pieces, etc. While we had tubs for them to go in, they were all sitting on the floor of his bedroom. We bought this cube storage organizer and it has changed the look and space of his bedroom. Now, he has tons of room to play, build, color, or whatever else his heart desires.

Last but not least, keep your garage looking fresh with these heavy-duty storage shelves. Each adjustable-height shelf holds up to 350lbs and it is super easy to assemble. Depending on how much storage you need, you can always buy multiple and have an organized, uniform garage, with easy access to everything you need. Also, remember to attach anti-tip devices to keep everybody safe!

In conclusion, decluttering and organizing are wondrous for the soul. Studies show that cleaning is great for your mental and physical health, too! While developing the initial system takes work, it tends to stick and be totally worth it in the long run. So, what are you waiting for?! Find your inner Mrs. Doubtfire and get to cleaning!
